The recommended salt intake for the entire day is about 1 tsp! This is general advice. If you did not know, salt and sodium is used interchangeably. Salt is made of sodium and chloride.
Salt is usually used as a preservative and can help to raise blood pressure if low. Too much salt intake can lead to a detrimental effect. It can cause the body to store more fluid and retain water. High blood pressure can be a result which leads to heart attacks, stroke and kidney failure.
Pink salt is marketed as the healthier salt. It has a little less sodium than regular table salt. This means that you may be able to use more than 1 tsp. per day.
Salt is still salt! Monitor your intake because the truth is everything you consume has sodium in it! Many of us overconsume salt and have complications because of it.
