Oat, chocolate hot cross buns!


It's time for another delicious home made recipe!


It's Easter time and you know I have to have some yummy hot cross buns! I always make it more nutrient dense by adding ingredients that change the benefits of a bun!


NO SUGAR, NO SALT, NO OIL.

Oat benefits:

Dark chocolate benefits:

> helps with blood pressure management

> Can raise HDL





















Flaxseed benefits:

> may improve cholesterol

> can lower blood pressure

Honey benefits:

> doesn't spike blood sugars

> can help with digestive issues

> antioxidants

























Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cup oats

  • 2 tbsp. flaxseed

  • 1 tsp. cinnamon powder

  • 1 tbsp. yeast

  • 3 tbsp. honey

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

  • 1/4 cup raisins

  • 1 egg whites




Method:

Blend oats and flaxseed until it turns to powder. Add it to chocolate, honey, raisins and yeast with cinnamon and mix in egg whites and 1/4 cup of water. Knead and set aside. Line baking pan with parchment paper OR use a little oil OR non-stick baking pan. Cut into 3 and roll into a ball. Leave to rise. Melt some chocolate and drizzle over bun like a cross. Bake in oven for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees F. Leave to cool and then enjoy!
